Basketball Game Preview: Lakota Tech Tatanka vs. Todd County Falcons

The Lakota Tech Tatanka will take on the Todd County Falcons in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lakota Tech had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 62-51 victory over St. Francis Indian.

Meanwhile, Todd County can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against Chamberlain as Todd County made off with a 66-44 win. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Todd County's win came from a few key players Lakota Tech will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Ellert, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Tylen Valandra, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points and five rebounds.

Lakota Tech took their victory against Todd County in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 74-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakota Tech since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
