Softball Recap: Ezekiel Academy Starts Season with Victory at Home

Ezekiel Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Southern Academy Cougars a 9-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted since April 13, 2024.

Sarah Vick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 11 over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lauryn Darnell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Baylee Horn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Looking ahead, Ezekiel Academy will challenge Macon-East Montgomery Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Southern Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ezekiel Academy at 11:00 a.m. on March 29th.
