Volleyball Recap: Mountain Empire Takes a Loss

Mountain Empire lost against Valley Center back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mountain Empire Redhawks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Center Jaguars. The loss was the Redhawks' first of the season.

While Mountain Empire ultimately came up short, they really made Valley Center work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 22-25, 27-25, 25-22.

Connor Cunnington paced Mountain Empire's offense, picking up 15 kills. Cunnington got some help from Oscar Plasencia and his 25 assists. Plasencia was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mountain Empire fell to 2-1. As for Valley Center, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Mountain Empire will take on Crawford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Valley Center, they will face off against Tri-City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
