Basketball Recap: The New Community School Takes a Loss

The New Community School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt an 80-27 loss at the hands of the Veritas School Lions. The Sabers lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 78-70 score last time.

Liam Cruess was nothing short of spectacular for Veritas School: he posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of London Smith, who earned 12 points.

The New Community School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Veritas School, their record is now 4-6.

When The New Community School and Veritas School next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The New Community School will take on Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot and their four-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Veritas School will try to stop Randolph-Macon Academy's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
