League recap: Grondin overpowering for Scripps Ranch in past week

Eastern league recap: 5/21/12

Eastern's top pitcher this week was Scripps Ranch's Sekwohn Grondin. He picked up zero wins and eight strikeouts.

Brandon Hernandez was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .412 average with five RBIs. The Falcons compiled a record of 2-0 in that time.

Scripps Ranch sprayed a league-best 58 hits this week, but still trails St. Augustine, which holds the season lead in base knocks with 299. With 34 hits this year Taylor Madigan leads the second-place squad, which finished with a 2-0 record this week.

Although the 44 runs scored by Scripps Ranch topped the league, the Saints maintained their lead in the league with 216 runs this season.

St. Augustine's Enrico "kiko" Garcia led the league in strikeouts this week with nine. With 62 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



The Falcons' Grant Fennell finished his week with nine hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .405 and ranks thirteenth in the league with 30 hits.

Taylor Ahearn was an RBI machine on Monday, as he knocked in four runs during St. Augustine's 12-0 win over Serra.
