Football Recap: East Rowan Takes a Loss

The East Rowan Mustangs were beaten by the Piedmont Panthers 47-7 on Friday. The loss put an end to the Mustangs' undefeated start to the season.

Julian Cauble threw for 117 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Jason Bonds was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards. On the ground, Nolan Strozier rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown.

Piedmont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Poole, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 71 yards and one score on only five carries. Jack Blakeslee was another key passer, throwing for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, East Rowan fell to 2-1. As for Piedmont, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

East Rowan will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jay M. Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. This will be the Mustangs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Piedmont, they will be playing at home against Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
