Basketball Game Preview: Clarkston Angoras vs. Marist War Eagles

The Clarkston Angoras will face off against the Marist War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Clarkston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 57-10 win over Druid Hills. The Angoras' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

Meanwhile, Marist entered their tilt with Lithonia on Friday with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. They breezed by the Bulldogs to the tune of 61-20. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marist pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.9 points over those games. As for Clarkston, their win bumped their record up to 3-19.

Clarkston was dealt a bruising 87-6 defeat at the hands of Marist when the teams last played last Thursday. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clarkston was down 51-2.
