Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northside Christian). They blew past the Lexington Christian Eagles 19-4 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Austin Anderson looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Luke Anderson was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Cox, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Northside Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Northside Christian's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Lexington Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Northside Christian and Lexington Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The Mustangs will square off against Admiral Farragut at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (80 vs. 544). Meanwhile, Lexington Christian (ranked 48th) will meet Citizens Christian Academy (ranked 165th) at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
