Football Recap: Lakeland Lakers vs. West Noble Chargers
After flying high against Central Noble last Friday, Lakeland came back down to earth. The Lakers were dealt a 34-7 loss at the hands of the West Noble Chargers on Friday. If the Lakers were looking for revenge after losing 35-0 to the Chargers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Lakeland lost, don't look at Dylan Bateman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. The Lakers also got help from Levi Cook, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.
West Noble's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Shisler, who rushed for 36 yards and one score, and also threw for 124 yards and one TD. Xy'Mire Barnes-Bridges was another key player, rushing for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.
Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for West Noble, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Looking ahead, Lakeland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. The Lakers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Noble, they will head out on the road to square off against Churubusco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Chargers 13.6, the Eagles 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
