Softball Game Preview: East Mecklenburg Eagles vs. Butler Bulldogs

East Mecklenburg is 0-10 against Butler since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will challenge the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in East Mecklenburg's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.

East Mecklenburg made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mallard Creek, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mavericks on Wednesday. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Geneva Garvais made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, East Mecklenburg let Zya Dunlap and Jahslyn Pruitt run wild. Dunlap went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Pruitt scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Pruitt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Frida Arroyo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

East Mecklenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mallard Creek only posted an OBP of .062.

Meanwhile, Butler lost 12-2 to Parkwood on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got East Mecklenburg back to even at 8-8. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
