Softball Game Preview: Stillwater Ponies vs. Woodbury Royals

The Stillwater Ponies will head out to take on the Woodbury Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stillwater is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

While Stillwater's win against Irondale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ponies beat the Knights on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Woodbury's offense. They fell 5-0 to Forest Lake on Monday. The Royals have struggled against the Rangers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Kate Rapp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

Stillwater's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbury, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Stillwater took their victory against Woodbury when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Ponies repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
