Softball Recap: Stevenson Patriots vs. Glenbrook South Titans
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stevenson walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Glenbrook South Titans with a sharp 12-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Patriots have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Potempa looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Stevenson let Maahi Patel and Jasmine Lucero run wild. Patel went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Lucero went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Lucero has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Becker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenbrook South only posted an OBP of .318.
