Baseball Game Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. West Stokes Wildcats

Ashley has won five straight games at home, while West Stokes has won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Ashley Screaming Eagle will host the West Stokes Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Ashley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Brunswick, sneaking past 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Screaming Eagle's lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ashley got a great performance from Jackson Lee as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Lee a new career-low in hits (zero).

On the hitting side, Ashley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cane Mehling, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, West Stokes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Oak Grove on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won three in a row.
