Baseball Game Preview: Little River Academy Bumblebees vs. Salado Eagles

The Little River Academy Bumblebees will head out to challenge the Salado Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Little River Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Salado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Little River Academy's victory against Thrall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bumblebees' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 1-0 shutout on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bumblebees.

Salado not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 9-1). They blew past Taylor 7-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Ducks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Owen Gunter led a balanced Eagles bullpen and tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gunter has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Robledo, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jamison Stephens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Little River Academy's record now sits at 22-6-1. As for Salado, their record is now 20-9.

Little River Academy might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Salado in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can the Bumblebees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
