Volleyball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. Immaculate Conception Spartans

The Gateway Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Immaculate Conception Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Immaculate Conception took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Gateway, who comes in off a win.

Gateway will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Drew, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Gators put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Gateway was: they took every set by at least 25 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.

Meanwhile, Immaculate Conception was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Lowell.

While Immaculate Conception was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-9, 25-23.

Gateway's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Immaculate Conception, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Gateway was able to grind out a solid victory over Immaculate Conception when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
