Basketball Game Preview: South Kingstown Rebels vs. Westerly Bulldogs

The South Kingstown Rebels will head out to square off against the Westerly Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Kingstown is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, South Kingstown came up short against Chariho and fell 40-31.

Meanwhile, Westerly faced North Kingstown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Westerly fell 50-39 to North Kingstown.

South Kingstown will need to focus on slowing down Ella Reyes, one of several Westerly players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Reyes is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Juliana Voisnet, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Westerly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Westerly's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for South Kingstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

South Kingstown was dealt a bruising 54-27 loss at the hands of Westerly when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reyes, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. Now that South Kingstown knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
