Baseball Recap: Mead Victorious

While Mead's victory against Niwot wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mavericks skirted past the Cougars 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Mead got a great performance from Isaac Lockwood as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Lockwood has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Brakel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Keenein Nix was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mead's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Niwot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Mead will face off against Legacy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niwot, they will square off against Thompson Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
