Basketball Recap: Brentwood Gets the Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Brentwood narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Veritas Christian Academy 47-45. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-62 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Veritas Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jake Markham went 6-for-9 to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds. Markham also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 67%. Luke Niemeyer was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 10 points.

Brentwood's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

Brentwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they and Duchesne will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
