Softball Recap: Genoa Area Wins Going Away Against Waite

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clay, Genoa Area was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Waite Indians as Genoa Area made off with a 13-1 victory.

Rilee Popovich and Mya Colvin did most of the damage at the plate: Popovich went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Colvin went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Colvin a new career-high. Aaliyah Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Genoa Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waite only posted an OBP of .348.

The win got Genoa Area back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Genoa Area will host Toledo Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waite, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rogers at 5:00 p.m. on April 9.
