Wayne County had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-38 margin over the McEwen Warriors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, McEwen saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Laila Downs posted 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Downs' 30th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Shana Bohanon, who had nine points and four steals.

Wayne County's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for McEwen, they moved to 26-5 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Wayne County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-40 loss against Richland on the 8th. As for McEwen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-37 defeat against Moore County on the 8th.
