Basketball Recap: Hermitage Hermits vs. Lafayette County Cougars
Hermitage lost against Lafayette County back in November of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hermitage Hermits lost 72-48 to the Lafayette County Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Hermits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Cougars are ranked 67th).
Lafayette County found their leader in sophomore Ty Palermo, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 22 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Palermo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mack, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.
Hermitage is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Lafayette County, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Hermitage will host Crossett at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hermitage is facing Crossett at the right time seeing as Crossett is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Lafayette County and Emerson will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
