Calais is 8-1 against Jonesport-Beals since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Royals at 5:00 p.m.

Calais is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Woodland, who was ranked eighth at the time (Calais was ranked 17th). The Blue Devils fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Calais took Woodland into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-22, 25-11, 20-25, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Jonesport-Beals entered their tilt with Sumner on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tigers.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Jonesport-Beals was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-13, 25-11.

Calais' loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Jonesport-Beals, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Everything went Calais' way against Jonesport-Beals when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Calais made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
