Softball Recap: Philip Barbour's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Philip Barbour had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Greenbrier West Cavaliers by a score of 9-6 on Friday.

Avery McDaniel was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Katelyn Cooper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Olivia Wilmoth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Philip Barbour's record now sits at 5-6. As for Greenbrier West, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
