            Basketball Recap: Burns Bulldogs vs. Shelby Golden Lions        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against East Gaston  last Tuesday, Burns came back down to earth. The Burns Bulldogs took a hard  69-51 fall against the Shelby Golden Lions on Friday. The  match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring  game so far this season.

Despite the  loss, Burns saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Jadon Beam  dropped  a double-double with 20 points and ten  rebounds. The dominant performance also gave  Beam a new career-high in  three-point shooting accuracy (67%). Another player making a difference was  Tye Clay, who  posted 13  points and five  assists.
 Even though they lost, Burns  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 11  offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive  contests.
 Leading Shelby to victory were  Tee Hollifield and  Lorenzo Roseboro.  Hollifield  to rack up 15 points and seven  boards, while  Roseboro  on his way to 16  points and five  rebounds. Hollifield is also on a roll when it comes to  shooting accuracy, as he's  posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's  played.  Darius Young was another key player,  putting up eight points.
Burns'  defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 17-6. As for Shelby, the  win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
 Burns has already played their next game,  a  91-68  victory against Cherryville on the 17th. As for Shelby, they also  didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  match,  an  80-68  win against Bessemer City on the 18th.
