Basketball Recap: Foothill Falcons vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers

The Foothill Falcons came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Canyon Springs 54-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Foothill also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Canyon Springs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenijae Cherry, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aniya Biggs, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Foothill pushed their record up to 9-11 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Canyon Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Foothill will head out on the road to take on the Miners at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Sunrise Mountain is ranked 38th, while the Falcons are ranked 33rd). As for Canyon Springs, they will be playing at home against the Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Basic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday.
