Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Comes Up Short

Cave Spring came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-4 to the Christiansburg Blue Demons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Blue Demons since April 12, 2022.

Cave Spring saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Urgo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Cave Spring has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Christiansburg, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cave Spring is set to square off against their familiar foe Blacksburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Christiansburg will challenge rival Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Demons 3.6, the Spartans 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
