Texas softball pitcher gets 100th win, 1,000th strikeout in 18-0 victory.

Annapolis (Md.) nipped Severn (Severna Park, Md.) 2-1 on Saturday to snap a 40-game baseball losing streak which stretched to April 3, 2010.

Michael Patterson was the standout as he pitched a three-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts. The senior left-hander threw 90 pitches.

*Curtis Sanchez struck out a career-high 17 while pitching Roosevelt (Lubbock, Texas) to a 10-1 victory over Coahoma (Texas).

*Zack Jansen went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and a grand-slam while driving in 10 runs to lead Madeira (Cincinnati, Ohio) to a 26-2 rout of Indian Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio). His cousin, Andrew Benintendi, was 4-for-4 with a home run and he drove in six runs.

*Ryan Daiss struck out a school-record 17 as Shelton (Conn.) blanked Wilbur Cross (New Haven, Conn.) 6-0. Leaving no doubt that he was on top of his game, Daiss fanned the first 10 batters to face him.

*Grady Little, former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, has been hired as director of baseball operations at Hickory Grove Christian (Charlotte, N.C.).

*Switching to softball, senior Bailee Wortham won her 100th game and posted her 1,000th strikeout as Western Hills (Fort Worth, Texas) routed Dunbar (Fort Worth, Texas) 18-0.
