Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University entered their game against Westchester on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats took a blow against the Comets, falling 76-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 94-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Despite the loss, University saw an underclassman step up: freshman Skylar Melton posted 16 points and six boards. That was a full 36.4% of the Wildcats' points, marking the third time in a row Melton has put up more than a third of the team's points. Jeiel Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

University now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Westchester, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. University will square off against rival Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Westchester is set to challenge their familiar foe Venice at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
