Softball Recap: Dunlap Beats Illinois Valley Central for Their Sixth Straight Win

Dunlap waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Hannah Parker was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Gabby Drake was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dunlap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illinois Valley Central only posted a batting average of .000.

Dunlap's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Illinois Valley Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunlap will head out to face off against Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 1.9, the Little Giants 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Illinois Valley Central, they will challenge Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
