Baseball Recap: Buena Park Takes a Loss

Buena Park extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-15 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Costa Mesa Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

Buena Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Rojas, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Costa Mesa, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On Costa Mesa's side, Troy Simmonds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. Simmonds has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grady Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Navarro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

While Buena Park had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
