Football Recap: South Caldwell Comes Up Short

South Caldwell played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the T.C. Roberson Rams, falling 40-6. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.

Corbin McGhinnis threw for 32 yards on six of 19 attempts. On the ground, Tanner Barr rushed for 75 yards on only nine carries.

A big part of T.C. Roberson's win came down to the chemistry between Karod Harris and his top target Kanyus Atkins. Harris threw for 232 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes while Atkins picked up 154 receiving yards and three scores. Atkins' longest reception was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Chanten Wynn got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

South Caldwell now has a losing record of 2-3. As for T.C. Roberson, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Caldwell will venture away from home to face off against McDowell at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd. The contest will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for T.C. Roberson, they will head out on the road to square off against Asheville at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. The Rams will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
