Preview: Pierz Pioneers vs. Upsala Cardinals
Pierz is 7-2 against Upsala since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pierz Pioneers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Upsala Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pierz beat Little Falls 47-41.
Meanwhile, even though Pillager scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Upsala still came out on top. Upsala walked away with a 69-58 victory over Pillager. The win made it back-to-back wins for Upsala.
Upsala's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabel Ripplinger, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ripplinger has scored all season. Brenna Graves was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Pierz's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Upsala, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season.
