Volleyball Recap: Birdville Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

There's no place like home for Birdville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the McKinney Lions 2-1.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Birdville who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 16-25, 25-20.

Among those leading the charge was Makena Wharton, who had ten digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

When it comes to explaining why McKinney lost on Friday, don't look at Madison Jones. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and three assists. Brooklyn Kingsley also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Birdville has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for McKinney, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Birdville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against North Forney on the 2nd. As for McKinney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Allen on the 5th.
