Basketball Game Preview: Lone Tree Lions vs. Wapello Indians

Lone Tree and Wapello are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Lone Tree Lions will host the Wapello Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lone Tree is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Winfield-Mt. Union 74-35. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wapello strolled past Louisa-Muscatine with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 38-23. While fans of the Indians might be used to big wins, the 15-point margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Lone Tree has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Wapello, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

Everything came up roses for Lone Tree against Wapello in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-32 victory. Will Lone Tree repeat their success, or does Wapello have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
