Baseball Recap: Granger Takes a Loss

Granger suffered their biggest loss since April 26, 2025 on Tuesday. They lost 9-2 to the Thorndale Bulldogs. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Granger saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dayton Knippa, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Knippa has hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Granger and nudges their season record down to 2-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-6 Rosebud-Lott (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.9% over those games). As for Thorndale, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Granger will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rosebud-Lott at 7:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Thorndale, they will host Brazos Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
