Athens came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. It was close, but they capped 2024 with a 67-64 victory over the Ennis Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since December 6th.

Athens is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Ennis, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Athens Hornets duke it out with the Kemp Yellowjackets at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens is facing Kemp at the right time seeing as Kemp is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ennis, they will challenge Red Oak at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
