Softball Recap: Seven Straight Road Wins for Caldwell

Caldwell put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They blew past the Shadyside Tigers 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caldwell got a massive performance out of Hanna Reiter, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Reiter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Marshall, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Reiter wasn't the only one making solid contact: Caldwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Caldwell's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Shadyside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Caldwell will challenge Conotton Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Redskins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shadyside, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Frontier on the 10th.
