Softball Game Preview: King & Queen Central Royal Tigers vs. Northumberland Indians

The King & Queen Central Royal Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Northumberland Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: King & Queen Central has struggled recently with 17 defeats in a row, while Northumberland will arrive with seven straight victories.

King & Queen Central came up short against Northampton on Friday, falling 27-7.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northumberland). They put the hurt on Essex with a sharp 21-11 win on Thursday. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Braylin Beauchamp was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two triples.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Somers, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Kierra Coleman was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs.

Northumberland pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for King & Queen Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

King & Queen Central suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Northumberland when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Royal Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
