Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Jaguars vs. Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots

The Northwest Jaguars will square off against the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Governor Thomas Johnson likes a good challenge.

Northwest is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Blake just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 79-69 to the Bengals. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Bengals are ranked 20th).

Northwest might have lost, but man, Anthony Wells was a machine: he went 8-for-15 to rack up 18 points and four steals. Jaylin Ouattara was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 16 points.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Governor Thomas Johnson walked away with it. They snuck past the Screamin' Eagles with a 54-49 victory on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on six straight.

Governor Thomas Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.
