Baseball Recap: Western Wayne Comes Up Short

Western Wayne extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-14. They lost 18-0 to the Wyoming Area Warriors. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Wyoming Area, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

For Wyoming Area's part, Caleb Pavinski looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, David Favata and Alex Vacula did most of the damage at the plate: Favata went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Vacula went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Favata a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bruno Pizzano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Wayne will face off against Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Wyoming Area, they will challenge Tunkhannock at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.47 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
