Softball Recap: Willows Has No Trouble Against Oroville

Willows's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Oroville Tigers with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Honkers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

Kimberly Garrison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Gianna Colonico and N Gallardo did most of the damage at the plate: Colonico scored a run while going 4-for-5, while Gallardo scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gabi Cano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Willows kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oroville only managed seven hits.

The win got Willows back to even at 1-1. As for Oroville, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Willows will take on Yreka in a tournament on March 14th. As for Oroville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Oroville Tigers take on Corning Cardinals at 10:45 a.m. on Friday.
