After losing to Holy Names Academy the last time they met, Lakeside decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lakeside Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against Holy Names Academy on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (112-110) Lakeside actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 26-24, 27-25, 21-25, 21-25, 15-13.
Several Holy Names Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Garcia, who had 20 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Peterchak, who had 19 digs and three aces.
Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 4-7-1. As for Holy Names Academy, they dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Lakeside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against West Seattle on the 17th. Holy Names Academy has also already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Mercer Island on the 17th.
