Baseball Game Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Alhambra Bulldogs

The Campolindo Cougars will face off against the Alhambra Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Campolindo 4, Alhambra 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Campolindo needed a bit of extra time to put away Acalanes. They won by a run and slipped past the Dons 6-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

William Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Myers was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jack Luster and Augie Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Luster got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Martinez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Martinez a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Alhambra's offense. They fell just short of College Park by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Cameron Millar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Alhambra is 8-2 when Millar allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Campolindo's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 12-8.

Campolindo couldn't quite finish off Alhambra in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
