Preview: Saucon Valley Panthers vs. Bangor Slaters
Saucon Valley is 2-8 against Bangor since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Saucon Valley Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Bangor Slaters at 6:45 p.m. Saucon Valley is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Saucon Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They strolled past Kutztown with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. The victory was just what Saucon Valley needed coming off of a 64-41 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Jack Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Grim, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bangor pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Stroudsburg North. While losing is never fun, Bangor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while East Stroudsburg North is ranked 194th).
Saucon Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Bangor, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Saucon Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Bangor when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. Will Saucon Valley repeat their success, or does Bangor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
