Basketball Recap: Montezuma Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Montezuma waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They claimed a resounding 60-22 win over the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Tigerhawks are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montezuma's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Colfax-Mingo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montezuma will square off against Moravia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Colfax-Mingo, they will take on Colo-NESCO at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
