The Fairless Falcons will square off against the Rittman Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairless is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Fairless had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Aquinas on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-2 win. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Mike Ritterbeck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Ritterbeck was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Fairless got a massive performance out of Lucas Peters, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Peters a new career-high. Blake Gregorich was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Fairless was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rittman didn't have quite enough to beat Hillsdale on Wednesday and fell 8-7. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Rittman saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Welch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Welch has become a key player for the Indians: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another was Carson Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Rittman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Fairless, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Fairless has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Rittman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
