Preview: Montverde Academy Eagles vs. Clarksville Christian
The Montverde Academy Eagles will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Clarksville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Montverde Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Clarksville Christian likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Montverde Academy was fully in charge, breezing past East Nashville Magnet 67-27 on the road. Given Montverde Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Florida, while East Nashville Magnet is ranked 103rd in Tennessee), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaloni Cambridge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Lourdes Da Silva Costa was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Clarksville Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 38 points or more this season. They blew past Pleasant View Christian 53-7 at home. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 1 on the offensive boards, as Clarksville Christian did.
Nevaeh Brooks was her usual excellent self, scoring eight points along with eight assists and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Marley Spiers, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Montverde Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Clarksville Christian, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Montverde Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 63.9 points per game. It's a different story for Clarksville Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 55.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
