Softball Game Preview: Butler Aviators vs. Fairmont Firebirds

The Butler Aviators will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Fairmont Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Butler's offense. They came up short against Male on Thursday, falling 13-0. The Aviators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Fairmont came up short against Carlisle on Tuesday and fell 6-3. The loss put an end to the Firebirds' undefeated start to the season.

Carlee Netherton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fairmont fell to 2-1. As for Butler, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Butler skirted past Fairmont 9-8 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Will the Aviators repeat their success, or do the Firebirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
