Recap: Yuba City Honkers vs. Placer Hillmen
The Yuba City Honkers lost against the Placer Hillmen back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The New Year welcomed Yuba City with a 78-46 whooping from Placer. Yuba City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.
Yuba City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saleem Rafiq, who scored ten points along with three steals. The game was Rafiq's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Haiden Mann was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Yuba City now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Placer, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Yuba City will be playing at home against Woodcreek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Woodcreek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Placer, they will head out on the road to face off against Ponderosa at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
