Preview: Killian Hill Christian Cougars vs. Fideles Christian Rangers
Killian Hill Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Fideles Christian Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Killian Hill Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Fideles Christian is ranked 205th).
Killian Hill Christian suffered their biggest loss since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 74-48 loss at the hands of Lanier Christian Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Killian Hill Christian in their matchups with Lanier Christian Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Emory Berry put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 31 points along with four steals. That was a full 64.6% of Killian Hill Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hawthorne Herring, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Fideles Christian pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Creation Christian Academy. Fideles Christian has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Despite the defeat, Fideles Christian got a solid performance out of Jaxton Rice, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rice scored 15 or more points. Benjamin Harper was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
Killian Hill Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Fideles Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Killian Hill Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.9 points per game. However, it's not like Fideles Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Killian Hill Christian came up short against Fideles Christian in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 66-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fideles Christian's Gabe Reynolds, who scored 31 points along with two steals. Now that Killian Hill Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
